The Dalrod Peterborough Islanders are happy to announce the return of Connor Stokes and Robert McDonald

Stokes started his junior career in Chelmsford, but joined the junior Phantoms at the age of 11, he made his EPL debut at the age of 17, scoring 2 goals in his first 3 shifts! He went on to play 26 games for the Phantoms that season. After posting an impressive 32 goals and 28 assists in his last junior season Stokes attracted the attention of the Chelmsford Chieftains and joined for the 2011-2012 season, however he re-joined the Islanders part way through the season and played 14 games posting 7 goals and 8 assists. The following season was a great one from Stokes, with 15 goals and 9 assists, ‘Stokesy’ was rewarded with an assistant captains role the following season and scored 10 points in 15 games. The past two seasons Connor has been on a two way contract splitting his time between the Phantoms and Islanders, appearing in 50 games for the Phantoms gaining 2 assists. In his 40 games for the Islanders he has posted an impressive return of 38 goals and 35 assists. Known for his speed and with over 100 appearances for the Islanders, Stevie is delighted to have Connor back this season “Big year for Stokesy this year as he will again be playing Phantoms when he can. One of the fastest players in the league and can score goals. He scored some big goals for us last year and the Islanders will be looking for him to be a main player again this season." Stokes also commented on his return, “I had a lot of fun playing hockey last season, so when we lost in the finals of the cup and playoffs it didn't sit to well with me considering the season we had was one of the best in previous years. I'm looking forward to what this season has to offer, with the main bulk of the guys coming back I would like to see ourselves in the running for some silverware again.“

McDonald has already made 88 Islanders appearances and is one of the most experienced players in this young Islanders team. His style of play demonstrates this, as he plays with a cool head and is very calm on the puck. His senior career has mainly been spent at Peterborough, with a couple of seasons spent with the Nottingham Lions and Slough Jets. With 6 goals and 25 assists for the Islanders, an impressive return for a defenseman, he is also crucial to the powerplay and penalty kill. McDonald was an important piece in the Islanders jigsaw and Johnson is really pleased he is returning “Great to have an experienced D man back with the Islanders. Bob is cool and patient on the puck and I am very glad he has decided to re-join us for another year” McDonald is hoping to get his hands on some silverware this season "I'm excited to be back with the Islanders for another year. It will be exciting to see what successes we can build on from last year and hopefully with the strong core of players returning this season, we will be able to achieve some new goals. We have unfortunately lost some very good players but that's the one of the goals of this team, to help players make the next step in their careers. I'm looking forward to the season ahead with the group of lads we have.”

Islanders will be announcing more signings next week
